On Monday at 11 p.m., a 42-year-old woman working inside of a restaurant near the 24th Street BART Plaza was tied up, then robbed at gunpoint, by an unidentified man. The woman had been closing up the restaurant when the suspect walked in, and while pointing his gun at her, demanded that the woman hand over money.
The suspect then tied the woman up and locked her in the restaurant’s bathroom, and proceeded to take the establishment’s cash. The suspect managed to flee the scene, and the woman was transported to a nearby hospital.
Bus Robbery
A 54-year-old man was beaten and robbed while taking the bus on Monday evening. Police report that the victim was sitting inside of a bus at about 8 p.m. passing Valencia Street at 18th Street when he was confronted by a group of three men, estimated to be about 20 years old. One of the men grabbed the victim’s backpack and proceeded to walk way.
As the 54-year-old tried to stop the man, the two other suspects began punching and kicking him, causing non-critical injuries. The three then fled on foot, running eastbound on 18th Street – no arrests have been made, and the victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Man Punched and Robbed
A 31-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday morning after punching and attempting to rob a 61-year-old man near the intersection of 18th and Noe streets. At about 12:33 a.m., the suspect, along with two other people, approached the 61-year-old and asked him if he wanted to buy some items.
The 61-year-old refused, and as he was walked away, the suspect punched him and rummaged through his pockets, taking some of the victim’s property. The suspect fled the scene, but a witness followed him and provided responding officers with information about his whereabouts. Upon arrival, the officers took the 31-year-old into custody.
Fire at 16th Street
Police responded to reports of a fire at 2:50 a.m. on Monday near the intersection of 16th and Valencia streets. According to police reports, a woman estimated to be about 43 years-old was caught attempting to steal a bicycle at that location, and then fled on foot in an unknown direction. Police did not respond to inquiries about the fire investigation by press time.
